THE OBJECTS
The object is to paint, the painting is the object, the object is painted. These paintings begin with finding the object. These found objects are the roots of trees, each a unique form, created by their relationship with the earth many years ago. Mainly from old growth forest, often huge in scale, the remains left behind. What a life these things have had, and continue to have. Each painted object is its own self, a form of a form. As each object develops I am reminded of a particular painter and I name them so.
